My H's family (STBXH now) always had short names to call each other like Ger & Ner ( Nermine), Sis, & H always called me Deb. My communication with him, I have limited to only written emails or texting on the phone....no voice....but I have to say, I never use the Ger for him any longer....I have no fondness left for him that I would want to call him by anything but his real name.....& it irritates me when he still writes Deb when communicating with me.....I feel that it's all too familiar & not appropriate. When dealing with a financial issue through a 3rd party, the loan modification people who were trying to force me to sign on the loan that I wanted NO PART OF & REFUSED TO SIGN...got him on the phone with me....just hearing his voice was like hearing fingernails on a chalkboard......let alone being called any familiar name other than my REAL name.

I have never been into terms of endearment & told my H when first married that I would punch him a good one if he ever called me sweetheart or anything like that. I'm not that obnoxious with others who seem to have that habit...but I was darned if I was going to allow any habit like that to get started with my H.
