meditation always helps to clear or at least calm the mind... gives it a break from the overwhelming thinking we can get into .
Find a quiet place where you willnot be disturbed (put a sign on the door if you have to) add soothing music... sit or lie comfortably... and listen to the music... keep saying NO, or STOP to any thought that comes in while you are doing this... and take notice of your breathing.
Usually breathing is on a count basis something like inhale to count of 4, hold to a count of 3-4 exhale to count and pause to a count before the next breath.
Just the very basics... but it helps and only a few minutes at a time will help.
