Being 60, I remember duckandcover, and my mother, like many others saying she hoped she would be right under the bomb if dropped. At the time it scared me, I didn't fully comprehend...and then I read Hiroshima and, yeah, let me be right under the thing that brings the end.
I also want to be left in the wood, I know the place, if I become demented. My children still think this terrible but I do not want to live as my mother did (she would not have wanted to had she had time to choose), and, having lots of experience working in LTC, I do NOT want to be cared for they way we care (not) for these people now. Exposure, or starvation are far preferable to me, or a beautiful place with a hefty dose of goodbye meds.
