Latest research on grains which contain gluten indicates that they may be harmful to the
human. That would include wheat, barley, and rye;* the other grains usually are considered not to contain gluten--oats, buckwheat, etc. Wheat, barley, and rye all contain exorphins which act on the opiate centers of the brain and can be harmful for those sensitive to grains. In addition, they are addictive and can cause mood swings and weight increase more so than many other products, including sugar. (These gluten-containing grains can increase blood glucose levels higher than sugar does.)

Milk also contains exorphins which act on the opiate receptors of the brain; be careful
about that,too.

*See "Wheat Belly" by Dr. David Williams, a book that is a recent New York best seller; it's a report on the dangers of gluten-containing grains and the hazards they present.

A nice thread and helpful; thanks for this.
