Im not sure whether this should have gone in psychiatric meds or here, but I thought here would be best.
I have had three apps with my psychiatrist so far, I only get to see him three times a year and often only for ten - fifteen mins but at the beginning he said he thought it was bipolar 1 but wasn't certain. last time he said I have an underlying low mood that doesn't go away even when I am feeling high. I agree with this but then he gave me citalopram.
the main reason I am unsure about taking it is bcos I have had a couple of suicide attempts, altho the first was ten years ago, and the last was about four years ago. Also when I was on lamictal (for mood stabiliser and seizures) it gave me memory loss and serious suicidal thoughts.
I read on the packet that citalopram can increase the possibility of suicide and seizures, and the way I felt on lamictal, I know that I fighting against suicidal thoughts is difficult, so in many ways I don't want to try it.
so would you take anti depressents if you had previously attempted suicide (but not regularly) and had had pnes seizures due to panic attacks?
im thinking I will perhaps see my GP about it (im in the UK) but any advice before that would be good as I know some GPs just ay that if your pdoc has given it to you then u should take it.
thanks.
