I bet you Are a pretty girl.. However, more important than looks is the energy that you exude, but I know that must be tough because you are shy.

Have you tried joining a singles group. I know of some friends who are members of them and they arrange group travels throughout the year. Some of them become such good friends that they meet up and travel together on their own. Just a thought. You can be as social as you want or stand back and be a little shy... either way, you get to travel without the fear of traveling alone.
