Well, I agree that no child ever survives childhood without some minuscule injury to the
ego. Maybe that may be what pushes us all to strive to be the best that we can be
(when we're healthy and understand what takes place in childhood that injured us.)

But it's being carried a little too far, in my view.

Everyone is human; the writer (and I agree with you about his lack of knowledge of
childhood) is trying to impress, frankly, and I don't buy that. Enough education
teaches us that the only real thing we know is that education teaches us how little
we really do know.

Those people who are gentle enough to really be strong have too much respect for
themselves and others to suggest that only the "rare" individual can "pull himself up
by his bootstraps". Nonsense.

We are all created equal, but we are not born equal. Therein is the food for articles
like the one you read and reported to us, in my view.

I enjoyed the responses to this thread. But don't put your heart to the task of
managing the stress that occurs when you let things like that article upset you;
it isn't worth the injury to your system.
