If someone is dyslexic or for another reason have a hard time spelling, then I don't care if they spell their meds wrong. But for those who can spell it seems nonchalant to just toss out any spelling.
I disagree that xanax sounds like xanex, but maybe that is my accent. For me, "nax" rhymes with tax, "nex" rhymes with Tex.
