Hi,

From what I've observed and experienced, the main goal of psychiatrists who see us in a hospital setting is to get us "stabilized" so that we're not a danger to ourselves or to others like we presumably were when we entered the hospital. The medications prescribed to serve the goal of stabilizing us in a hospital setting aren't always the same as the medications that would be prescribed to serve the goal of helping us to be as functional as possible in our day-to-day lives. I agree with the poster who suggested that you get in contact with the psychiatrist that you've been assigned to for outpatient care as soon as possible to let him or her know about the reaction you've been having to Risperdal at 8 mg. Your psychiatrist needs to know how you're doing on your medication regimen so he or she can adjust the doses of your medications to levels that are suitable for your individual needs and for the outpatient treatment of your psychiatric condition.
