I'd hypothesize that the reasoning is because your brain is tired. The frontal lobe is responsible for making wise "executive decisions"; behaving properly and following orders properly falls into this category. As a result, the frontal lobe isn't as active when overly-tired, and one's behavior quickly changes. Acting silly and emotional, poor decisions are made in result.
