I still am pretty sure it has to be SOMETHING on your end. If your cookies were truly being cleared, off the drive, out of memory, everything... then even if the site wanted to log you in automatically it would not be able to because it would have no way of knowing who you are, so it wouldn't know who to log you in
as.
Weird about the blinking envelop too, because I think
that is just an animated GIF as well. I don't have mail waiting so I can't confirm that right now. I will try to remember to check it before I click on it next time I have a PM.
If it is a bad cookie that could also explain why the flashing envelope won't go away though. I'm not sure if the server marks mail that has been read or if that is stored in a cookie as well.
It could be that the cookie for this site got corrupted, so it won't update, and isn't being deleted (for example the system thinks it is "in use" at the time it tries to delete it). But it is not corrupted enough that the browser can't read it when you come here.
Do you know how to go to the folder where the cookies are stored and see if there are any files in there? You should check for hidden files too in case it has gone "invisible" on you.
