Hi,
I just got back from my 2nd inpatient stay at a local hospital. I am currently undergoing a short "touch up" outpatient program (all women) while I get my meds back in gear.
I wanted to share that I wasn't having luck with lamictal as a mood stabilizer anymore. I was tapering off of it and had a depressive episode that ended up with me being suicidal and in the ER.
I had a bad experience in the psych ward and I almost let my guard down enough to let a Dr. who barely knew me talk me into doing ECT for the first time. I am SO GLAD I got a second opinion.
Now I am tapering off the celexa (anti-depressant) and starting a low dose of Topamax (I'm only on 25 mg now). I am already a bit hypomanic but this is to be expected because I am on both medications at once.
All I've been finding in the psych meds forums is "OMG does it help you lose weight?" while its a pleasant possible side effect, I'm more concerned about getting my mood stabilized again.
What are some people's experiences with this drug?
Has anyone had ECT and/or taken Topamax? I know I'm rambling but I need some insight with these things. I'm not opposed to ECT, but a Dr. who met me for about 2 minutes was shoving it down my throat. Do you see what I mean?
Thanks in advance.
-Lisa
