Hi ObscureAngel. I know what you are talking about. I used to get horrible PMS and would just cry for days before my period. Then one time I met a woman who changed my life forever. She told me about how calcium is so important in a woman's life. She said that if I took 3 grams of calcium starting 3 days ( I think) or 1 week ( it's been several decades ago) before my period I would not have those feelings. I took her advice and after several months I ceased to have PMS even without the calcium. I never had it since then. I've been through menopause also and never had but one symptom--hot flashes.
I think now they recommend calcium and magnesium together.
Better google it to get the correct information but I cannot express to you how wonderful it was for me. I remember that she gave me some calcium at the time we were talking and my muscles relaxed so much I had to sit down! Calcium is responsible for many muscle reactions and has a role to play in our emotions. Just kind of go carefully since too much calcium can contribute to kidney stones.
So try it. It sure helped me.
Let me know if it helps. Good luck
