Hello. I am now 55 years old and menopausal. However, when I was younger, I had terrible PMDD. It got worse and worse as I approached menopause. From the time I was 45 until I was 52 or so, I was practically suicidal every month. For two weeks out of every month, I had multiple severe night sweats every night, and got no real sleep. This made me so depressed and irrational I was nearly psychotic and could hardly do my job. Lots of days I called in sick, because I was really incapable of functioning. When I got my period, I would suddenly feel all right again, be able to sleep, and the night sweats would cease...for about two weeks, until I ovulated again, and then the nightmare would start all over. Doctors were no help. They all wanted to put me on hormone replacement therapy, but it made me worse and not better. I knew in advance that it would not work, since, even when I was younger, birth control pills always made me depressed and ill. You have my sincere sympathy.
Thanks for this!
