Guess I have you "beat" in a sense. I must have been 49 when I went back. I'll graduate in a year for what was my passion - environmental science. Unfortunately, it's used for human benefit primarily, which does not interest me as I do not value humans above the rest of existence. Unfortunately, that is what I have learned while developing my science skills and knowledge, and I'm not brilliant enough to overturn/influence the entire dominant worldview.

Oh, sure I know that not making a decision is a decision. Quite often I've followed the rule that doing something is better than doing nothing because it'll get you to a new place with new information and possibilities. But in the end, going round and round that leads nowhere, I am stuck now with the need to make better decisions. It is hard for me to characterize the pros and cons, nevermind their relative scales.
