I think it is wonderful, for the following reasons:
1) he liked you disheveled and at your worst - remember what Marilyn Monroe said about people who do not deserve us at our best if they cannot like us at our worst? Also, it is just nice that he sees through your being disheveled and into your essence and core.
2) Having a rescue dog would be a big plus in my book (as opposed to belonging to a canine club, raising an expensive puppy, etc.). I prefer people who have rescues.
3) he remembered about the art.
