Hi. Im new here also but i figured I would chime in. First of all don't take chest pains lightly it could be something major. You also didn't mention any details about your age or other health issues which makes it even harder to advise.
Go see a doctor!!
Now having gotten that out of the way I can tell to from personal experience that anxiety can cause chest pain and heart palpitations.
I am 54 and 2 years ago lost 56 lbs by totally changing my diet. About a year ago my anxiety went through the roof when the company I worked for for 33 years went bust. Although I was in good physical shape I did experience chest pains and palpitations. I have had borderline high blood pressure for years but it stayed in the high normal range after I lost the weight. I am one of those people that hate going to the doctor but my wife and kids begged me to go to the doctor for the pains. They did a full battery of test and fortunately I was cleared of any major issues with the exception of a very slight irregular heart beat. This irregularity was NOT the cause of my pain. Both my doctor and the cardiologist agreed my anxiety was the cause.
When things settled down a bit the pains went away. I am still in a heightened state of anxiety in general and if it get too intense i get the occasional pain and heart flutter. It usually is if I have gone a few days without some moderate exercise. (exercise even fast walking is very good for stress.)
Good luck and get yourself to a doctor. Some GP's are pretty good at recognizing anxiety symptoms. Almost all of them should be able to give you a referral to a mental health professional.
