Yes, doctor's offices have different policies. My current one usually just gives the results over the phone for tests done in other locations. For example, I had an ultrasound at the hospital, and my doc's office called me about the results.

However, I am supposed to have extensive bloodwork done in a couple of months. And the office went ahead and scheduled an appointment for me to come in a week later to get the results. I guess sometimes the doc wants to talk to me about any bad results/adjust meds, etc. And it's hard to get an appointment.
