I had to stop reading because, I can't read about it since it's too triggering.
But, putting mental health assistance IN the OBGYN office for post-partum would be a huge thing. Or in the same building. Where I work we have a counceling center in one of the clinics that all of the patients in the physician group are referred to. It's been tremendous for the patients. We have a psychiatrist and four therapists (they also have seperate practices. And, i can't see them because they are too expensive for non-inusrance, haha.... another perk of the US health system.) If every OBGYN had a mental health team that they refer to direclty, it could be a start.
Awareness is also key. Also, here's a thought.... HUSBANDS need to be counceled by the OBGYN about signs and symptoms of both depression and psychosis and what to watch for.
I had post partdum depression twice, got through it by myself twice. And it's horrible. Second time was when they sent me to the anger management support group (because I said I was angry.... that's all...) So, yeah...
Anyway.... My prayers to those two little angels and their poor mother who were taken from us by the lack of care she needed.
