I agree with you 110%! "Bipolar" seems like a used up, "dirty" or disrespectful word that is misleading, as well. Doesn't even address mixed moods, for example.

Interesting analogy re: shell shock and PTSD. It has been generalized, I agree! I have PTSD from trauma, non-military, btw.
