Ok, again, this has nothing to do with my opinion of weed as many of you know, but I don't see your issue (Woods) about WHICH substance you choose, but rather that you're both a) trying to find ways to take your mind off difficult thoughts, and b) are concerned that you have an addictive personality.

I have daily access to both alcohol and weed, but it doesn't present any kind of dilemma for me and I don't have to struggle not to partake. I'm not saying I'm specially disciplined or anything like that; my point is that your own survival instinct is sending up red flags about your own behavior, and I think you need to listen to them. Along those lines, I think that Amerikasend gives good advice -- if you're worried about something fairly benign like weed, then you definitely want to stay away from hard drugs. I mean, everyone should, but when people talk about weed being a 'gateway drug', I don't believe it's true for everyone. BUT, it is definitely for those who are compelled to alter their mind (which it seems like you are), then you want to nip that tendency in the bud (no pun!) and get yourself into therapy pronto.

Good luck Woods -- I don't see this as a problem with drugs or alcohol at this point. I think it's more that you are unhappy and seeking relief from it. But if you don't address your problems NOW, then the drugs/alcohol could soon become a problem and make you even unhappier than you are now

hugs,
LMo
