I lived with someone who drank heavily. It took years for me to decide to leave. I was amazed at how much better I felt when I finally did leave. It can be awful hard, though, on a meager income.

I'm not surprised that expressing your feelings hasn't helped much. It didn't in my case, either. It usually doesn't. That doesn't necessarily mean that he doesn't care. I don't think alcoholics usually stop drinking for anyone's sake, except their own. Al-Anon helped me get my thinking straight and change my expectations. I recommend it . . . even if you go just to get some reading material.
