I was having a hard time trying to figure out why I'm here and what is the purpose to my life.
Anyway, something happened today that made me realize that I am not just another body on this earth.
I got my stitches out from my surgery and walked to the pharmacy at a local mall. I had to wait for the bus and as I was standing there a 73 year old gentleman tripped when trying to step up the curb. I thought he was going to get up, but when he didn't I asked if he was OK. He really couldn't say much. He was face down on the concrete.
I asked someone to please get some help. I tried my cell phone, but it went to the CHP and was impossible to get through.
The poor guy was bleeding, but because he was face down I couldn't tell how bad it was. Someone gave me some tissues that I gave to the man to put on his head.
A girl came back with a police officers assistant. He called the Fire dept. and ambulance. About 5 minutes later they showed up.
The fireman asked if there were any other witnesses and I stated that there were, but they all got on the bus. I was the ONLY one that stayed with this poor guy.
The fireman then asked why I didn't just get on the bus like everyone else(he really was curious why I cared so much).
I told him that I looked at the situation as if that were my family member. I would never have left him alone.
He told me I am a really good person and he wishes there were more people like me in the world. I told him that it was no biggie and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
After they left, I realized that I had to wait another 45 minutes for my bus. I was a little dissappointed, but I felt so good about being able to help this man.
It put a smile on my face that hasn't been there in a while and I am proud of myself.
Just had to share
