I have both. The PTSD is a result of events that took place during my childhood. Bipolar doesn't cause PTSD. Some people suffer this after a traumatic event takes place in one's life. This doesn't mean that everyone that experiences a traumatic event will exhibit symptoms of PTSD later in life. The symptoms do overlap, and in my case, I believe the traumatic events have been responsible for bp reactions at times; however, considering my genetic makeup, I also believe that I would have had bp anyway. My son has a mood disorder, and he has never had a traumatic event in his life.
