Stopping any med cold turkey is never a good idea. It is NOT the way to see how you would feel without medication. You will suffer withdrawal and a flood of symptoms since your body is used to functioning with the medication.
If you want to see how things would be without medication or with a lesser dose, decrease 10% every month to 6 weeks. Some people consider the real recovery from their illness to have happened after withdrawing from medication, and others swear by their medication. It is a personal thing, but you have to be smart about it and be ready for possible withdrawal and have other ways to cope with any symptoms.
