I use an SSRI (zoloft) and Lorazapam (same class as Xanax) for "emergencies". Which is to say, if my anxiety peaks I'll resort to Lorazapam but will sometimes go weeks without needing it.

I asked my PDoc for it while also bringing up my addiction concerns as I have a history of drug abuse. We made a sort of agreement as to how I would use it and she watches for signs that I might be abusing it. I'm not, she sees that, so we're all good.
