I'm 57, I was there when it was new music. Joy Division was from 1976 to 1980. If all you listened to was commercial rock you would have missed them because at that time punk was not getting commercial air play in the USA, you would have had to listen to college stations to hear actual new music back then. Not that there is any thing wrong with classic rock. Jim Morrison of the Doors ODed on drugs, biggest rock star of the 60's, typical narcissist. Followed by Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin all drug over doses. Back then musicians died from drugs not suicide. But will we ever know what the root of their problem was?

I loved Nirvana! I was in my 40's but was in the mosh pits with their music, was nothing for a slam dancer from the 70-80's lol.
