This is something I came across. A reminder of sorts. Try to say it when you start getting upset. It won't make everything better but it may help give you a little perspective when it's really needed: ("x" is the person)
"Just like me, x is seeking happiness in his/her life."
"Just like me, x is trying to avoid suffering in his/her life."
"Just like me, x has known sadness, loneliness, and despair."
"Just like me, x is seeking to fill his/her needs."
"Just like me, x is learning about life."
