Principal Technical Architect for one of the major cell phone carriers, 13 years. Before that, I was a programmer at a tobacco company for 17 years.

I honestly don't know how I kept a job all of those years except to say that I am very, very good at what I do. I know that sounds narcissistic, but it's what I've been told for all of my adult life. I had terrible bouts of rage. Usually I could keep it under control, but I had more than one screaming match with coworkers. Depression was easier to manage. I just concentrated on the projects and took it one step at a time. I'm pretty sure my coworkers saw my mood swings and wondered what was wrong with me. My managers have always had to speak to me about my people skills, but they were willing to put up with it to get the job done.

I work from home now and I'm on medication. I expect I'll have the job as long as I want it.
Thanks for this!
