So if a girl is a virgin over some age, it's a good thing. If a boy is a virgin over a certain age, then something's wrong with him.
Just more societal judgment. Just do it when you're ready and with the right person and don't worry about what other people think about it.

While that double standard does still definitely exist, it seems to be evening out...when I was in my early 20's (I'm a girl by the way) I was turned down for even a first date because I made the mistake of admitting I was a virgin. The guy didn't want to deal with having to erm...."break me in". I feel like that's becoming a more and more common thought. That doesn't help guys that are older virgins, unfortunately, but it seems that being a girl and a virgin makes you unattractive as well. Also, no one has made me feel special or shown interest in me because I'm a virgin. So, I'm not sure it's a "good thing" anymore. I don't feel like it is at least...I'm afraid to admit it to someone...especially if they were once interested in me (which doesn't really happen, but still).
Anyway, the attitude is no matter what gender you are, being a virgin is a hassle to the other person. I have no idea how I personally will lose it now, knowing that it'll just be a hassle and nuisance to the other person.
I kind of feel that if you're over 18 (maybe even younger) and still a virgin that society thinks you're a freak male or female (I don't agree, but I feel like that's the attitude.
