Silly thing, but the above is what I have been saying to myself when the bad memories and emotions flood back and seem overwhelming. It does help keep the lid on the anxiety. I have been relying on music since "the crisis" as security blanket, diversion, and outlet. It helps me a lot to play something not on my radar screen a year ago. I used to hate Country, this year I started to listen to contemporary Country, and I really like it now. Nothing says "2012, Danger, Will Robinson, Danger" to me like listening to 'Broken Heart Syndrome' by Green Day or 'Falling Down' by Duran Duran and Justin Timberlake. But, listening to something new to me and new in 2013 like the Lady Antebellum album 'Golden' or 'Wheelhouse' by Brad Paisley really calms me down when I am freaking out a little bit.

A small thing but it helps.
