Sometimes doctors are all rushy and don't pay attention to things. So you may have to get really serious and say, "Dr. Soandso I one more thing I need to discuss with you, but I need to know that you are listening because it is important..." I'm sure he/she'll be all ears after that. However, before you do this, make sure you know the possible repercussions of your actions (i'm not saying don't tell them, i'm just saying - don't necessarily expect an aww and a hug - because everyone doesn't handle situations the same as every one else and I know I personally, hate to be caught off guard. And then, its possible he/she could be like - "hey, you don't need to do that ok?" and say nothing more.) I think as long as you go in with a proactive mindframe, and explain to your doctor that you are taking responsibility of your mental health and looking for resources, he/she should be willing to help. I think this will be a big step for you (i haven't told mine but he's been in the area the scars are and never mentioned it, so I don't know if he knows). But anyways, wishing you the best!! You are awesome! (((WorkInProgress16)))
