I don't know if we can ever see ourselves as "private." When we look at ourselves in the list we might see something different from when someone else looks at us, because it's "us" rather than someone else. Wouldn't make sense for the software not to tell us where we were. Mine is selected as "yes" (but the question is about wanting "others" to see not about ourselves) and always tells me "checking who's online" when I'm checking. How could it say anything else since we can't be two places at once (no matter how many windows we have open as there's only one of us) and how could we know since we can't check outselves?
