I'm going to give you some very blunt advice. This man is your EX husband. Change your phone number and have it unpublished. Go down to the police department and get an order of protection against him. He won't be able to come near you. If he somehow does come near you, call 911 and have him arrested immediately.
If he has the social contacts that you mentioned above, he won't want his name bandied around the community for abusing you. Take up for yourself. It is NOT your fault. It is HIS fault. HIS.
