Anyway, I was talking to one of my Ts about it and she said that I am exhibiting signs of a bi polar disorder, but that doesn't mean that I have it, and that if I do, other things that I need to fix are personality based. My other T has been stressed with me lately because she feels that I can't pull myself out of a bad place and into rationality lately. She also said that I have the background that sets up BPD, but that doesn't mean that I have it. Both know that I have a P evaluation on Tuesday.

Are they implying that I may be looking at a possible BPD diagnosis? I don't mean for this to sound insulting, but a BPD diagnosis seems more daunting than bi polar, and both sounds even scarier. At the end of the day, I'm happy to be taken seriously and getting help, but I want to brace myself for what may happen.

What do you all think?
Sure I think your T is getting you ready for either diagnosis so there is no surprises for you, like 'where did that idea come from".

It's really difficult to say with any certainty on the forum.

1. Yes mood swings last longer and occur less frequently. Even a rapid cycler only has 4 or 5 a year.

BUT there's always a but don't you know. There is such a thing as a mixed rapid cycle, where you could feel a mixed episode which could make it look like your changing moods more often. Again I caution you to wait and see. Just doing the same thing your T did, prepping u for either way.

If you have BPD your moods can be all over the map at any time usually lasting a few minutes to a few hours to a couple of days. Generally they are set off by triggers. But this could also be a mixed bipolar episode too! Confused yet? well you could also have both too

But don't stress out wait and see what you pdoc says!
