Not sure if I'd link mine to my depression nor anxiety. However, I am sure that any self esteem issue that you've felt a result of your birth defect, could indeed create a situation where you have depression.

My teeth, also, will never be perfect. As much orthodontic work that was done, some things just aren't meant to be perfect. I didn't get bullied in school over that. Before I had my tonsils removed, as an adult, I used to have an agape mouth appearance from breathing through my mouth. I do recall, back in '09, my stepmom's sister inlaw mentioning that I seemed to have grown into my mouth. After the tonsillectomy I was better at nose breathing, and not mouth breathing.

I was fortunate, with the surgeons I had, as a baby. I was once, highly insulted at a dentists office, because I don't have a tooth, right next to my top two front teeth, thanks to scar tissue. Hmph. Highly insulted, because of the way cultural shifts have resulted and people missing teeth are usually associated with doing illicit things. Hmphh.

Would you say, that your depression is environmental or genetic? I, personally, err on the side of environmental. My anxiety, I'd go with neurological.
