I, too, have nightly trouble sleeping. The doctor put me on Trazodone, but it made me have quite a bit of stomach pain.
I have taken to alternating between clonazepam, and benedryl. That is until I can get to my next appointment this Thursday. I can read for three hours, and still not be sleepy. If I don't get to sleep at a reasonable time, it makes it extremely difficult to get up on time. Plus, not getting enough sleep means a lot of drowsiness during the day. I can identify with what you are going through. But, I don't think my insomnia is due to anxiety. Though I do have panic attacks when awake and asleep. I think with me it is a matter of racing thoughts. My brain just does not want to shut off.
