What med are you taking? I had a bad reaction like this to SSRI antidepressants once. It made me hurt myself several times (punching my own face, cutting my wrist etc) I didn't tell the doctor about it (big mistake). Next thing you know I attempted to kill myself and almost succeeded had it not been for the grace of God I would've died. Being in the hospital is a lot better than being gone, life gets better with time and effort.
