I do. I use it to enter whole new worlds, to allow my imagination to open up and take me elsewhere. It gives my mind something else to chew on. I use it to escape real-life problems, but I look at it as distracting...I have a constantly worrying mind, so I use reading to slow that down in attempt to interrupt the cycle.
If a book can hold my attention, it definitely helps me cope...it's a safe form of escapism for me.
