I agree with casurfer about showing through your future actions and behaviors.

Also, have you considered therapy, as a means of treating the underlying suicidal thoughts? And also, now that you are an adult, it's not such a bad idea to consider, as you may need to work through your childhood, as an adult to resolve the pains that though, you may recognized and intellectually understand, such changes, can have a last impact. And to get to the route of why the attention felt so great, in a therapeutic setting.. Childhood wounds can last a lifetime. Therapy, can help ensure that these wounds don't resurface later on in life. Such as after having a baby or any type of life crisis, which life is sure to bring along to anyone and everyone.
