Sounds like "dissociation" to me... when our minds sorta check out because they can't cope with what is going on around us.
I felt the same way the other day when looking at my rose bushes. They are my pride and joy, usually. I love them like my children. They didn't even look real to me at that time. I had no feelings of any kind.
If you have a T, I'd talk to that person about your feelings and get some help figuring out what's really bothering you. It's a scary feeling!!
