I think it may be that emailing or calling again is the only way to see. Sometime stuff goes into my spam filter, for example, even if I have received from the person before. Or accidental deletion off of portable devices (my dad does this all the time and he does not know how to get it back until one of his children does it for him) and so forth.
For me knowing is always better than speculation, even if bad news (which I doubt this is) because I believe speculation can get out of hand quickly.
