I recently started a new job and have to wait 90 days for my health insurance to start. Not all employers have the 90 day waiting period. My last employer only had 30 days. I am concerned I will have an accident or develop some serious illness in this 90 days so I can't go uninsured. I have purchased COBRA coverage from my last job so that I am covered for the 90 days. It is expensive, but worth it. And it covers all my old providers, including mental health.
