Yeah - it's one of the many stupid rules that the gov't places on the poor that forces people to lie. If you do go the route of him moving in, and saying you're just roommates, he may at some point have to show a lease / proof of rent in order to keep the shelter portion of his ODSP if he's already getting that - he may not be since he's living with his Mom.
And the asset rules around ODSP are really stupid too. I haven't been able to work for 3 years, and all my Dr's / case manager etc. tell me, i'm a perfect candidate for ODSP, but because I have a small pension plan from a previous employer, I don't qualify for ODSP, so I have to use up my retirement savings. Oh well, guess I'll worry about that in 20 years.
