Well if the doctor says you can take it 3x a day as needed, you can. However I think alprazolam is in the class of Benzodiazepines right? Just be very careful with those, as they can be highly addictive. I think taking 1x a day how you're doing it is safer, so I would stick with that, and of course talk to your doctor about the craving to take it because it gives you relief. Perhaps you and your doctor could figure out a better strategy in how you should be taking it? Mind you, that is a very small dose. The only thing that would concern me would be the addictive quality of it.

Also, there are meds that are non-addicting and can promote that anxiety, stress-free feeling for the long-term. Not sure if you've looked into any of these, but it could be a helpful option to consider (then the benzos are often supplemented alongside these meds until they start working).
