Well, years and years ago (maybe about 24?), I made some comment to my therapist about how I might be seen by others, and she responded that people would likely see me as "strange." That sort of upset me, but I appreciated her honesty.

I am probably perceived as a bit different now, but no one has called me "weird" or "quirky" to my face. Well, I take that back. One colleague told me later that another colleague, who was not teaching at that time, was a "bit strange," too. I thought it was a bit of the pot calling the kettle black, but I didn't say anything at all. (We were all psych professors, so aren't we supposed to be a bit odd? )

I am thinking "strange" might be a bit nicer word for "weird" or "quirky." I would have been more annoyed had he used one of those words--well, "weird," anyway. I think most people are likely a bit "quirky."
