This has happened to me too often it seems. One time I was crying for an unrelated issue besides SI and my friend saw the 10 year old scars on my wrist and said "When did you do this? Why did you do this?" It only made me cry more and I said "I went thru a hard time in high school, I dont want to talk about it". Recently I was at the doctors getting my annual woman exam and the doctor saw the large, wide scar on my lower leg and said "Well what happened here?" and I was pretty bold and said "I cut myself" She was very taken aback and said "Why would you do that?! What were you thinking??! There is no reason to do that". Although the scars on my wrist are old I get lots of questions and looks about them.
