Maybe I'm just being sensitive because I'm in a crappy mood, but I don't find that funny at all. Of course, all her friends are LOLing about it, but I just want to tell her to STFU as she has NO IDEA what it's like to be bipolar. People think making jokes about MI is a way of de-stigmatizing it, but to me it's just offensive.

Thoughts?
If this is a close friend, perhaps a private message just explaining how that reference is offensive to someone who actually lives with the disorder. Probably wouldn't be mean about it, just sort of educational. I don't think responding in anger accomplishes anything except reinforcing her mistaken ideas about bipolar disorder.
