I saw Dr Albert Ellis speak at a Mensa gathering in NYC in the 80's - he used a lot of expletives! Aside from that, what I got from reading his stuff was like, if you say, life's not fair, his answer is, you're right it's not, now deal with it. I feel like I'm a special case - maybe I could have gone the RET route if someone would have told me the truth about my family and my place in it. But a close caring relationship with my current t is what finally made it safe for me to face and accept and survive that truth. So - Dr Ellis isnt wrong - you just have to be in the right space to hear him.
