I can understand how you could be attracted to a fictional person who embodies the qualities you are looking for in a man. One thing about fictional folks: You don't notice their quirks and their imperfections. A real man might have smelly feet and longer toenails that scratch his bed mate, bad breath, BO, throw his clothes on the floor instead of putting them in the hamper, complain about not having any clean clothes, etc.

I hope you are trying to look for a real man, if you'd like. Would it help to seek out some possible faults in your dream man, such as bad breath from smoking a pipe, likely perfectionism, etc.?
